The top end of the North Lost Creek ValleyThis may be the prettiest valley in the Canadian Rockies. Like all the trails off the Carbondale Haul Road it is easy to adjust the distance. Once past the bridge on the Lost Creek Road the trail climbs gently and crosses over North Lost Creek makes a turn to the west and then cross the creek one more time before you cycle up the creek to the intersection that goes to Mt. Darriah. In the next few kilometres the trail makes a couple steep climbs before levelling off and arriving in the midst of a magnificent bowl at the top of the valley. To the south there is great winter bear habitat among the rocky slopes and to the north is a 700 foot slope above, that forms a cirque containing a lake that feeds the marvellous waterfall that flows down the slope. Two more lakes are reachable by crossing the saddle to the northeast.
