This
trail leads to what maybe the best view in the area, if not, it is a close
second to the Carbondale Lookout. This is one of those trails that has two
distinct parts the beginning and the climb. It begins as a gentle roll to the
turnoff at the gated road and then it turns into a lung busting and leg burning
4.2 km climb to the lookout. The grade is not so bad (there are many steeper
climbs) but it just continues to go up and up and up. But this climb does have
its rewards... the view from the top is incredible and the return trip down
(moderately difficult) is full of exhilaration thanks to gravity. Oh yah, don’t
forget to sign the guest book when at the top. Just a reminder, please bring
your own food and drink to enjoy at the top as the attendants have only enough
for themselves.
