A
lookout with a moderate rating? While the climb to the Carbondale lookout is
steady it is rideable the whole way except maybe for the scree section near the
top. This is one that you take at a slow and steady pace at least on the way up.
Once on top the view is one of the best in all of the Canadian Rockies with the
contrasting limestone to the north and Purcell rock to the south. The way down
is fast and gravity rewards you for your climb up taking about a quarter of the
time it took you to get up to the lookout. Just a reminder, please bring your
own food and drink to enjoy at the top as the attendants have only enough for
themselves.
