The last steep rocky section of trail before the pass. We get off and walk usuallyAgain this trail present you with length options depending on where you begin your ride on the Carbondale Haul Road. At the end of the road there is a bridge crossing over some of the flood damage from recent years and the path turns south over a second bridge a few hundred metres away. From here the trail begins its gentle climb towards the turn off to MacDonald Creek. From the turn off the pitch of the trail increases significantly from a while and then it levels off once again eventually making it way to where it crosses MacDoanld Creek. After crossing the creek the trail rises significantly again on a narrow rocky route to the pass. Most people except those doing the MacDonald Creek -- North Kootenay Pass Loop leave their bikes somewhere along this path and hike to the pass itself. Once on the pass there are climbs on either side that will increase the splendidness of the view.
