Following
the MacDonald Creek trail go straight instead of making the turn to the south
and continue across the Carbondale River where it begins it steep singletrack
ascent up to a level trail along the side of the ridge. Once it levels off it
continues along the ridge until it final steep ascent to Thomas Blakiston’s
choice of a pass for the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1858. It was rejected by
the Canadian Government due to security concerns... it was too close to the
Canada-US Border.
