2008 Bellevue Mine Interpreters

The Crowsnest Pass Ecomuseum Trust Society is seeking six enthusiastic and creative underground mine interpreters who enjoy delivering a variety of interactive and unique programs with people of all ages at the             Bellevue Underground Mine.

Responsibilities:

  • Study, research, and delivery of interactive mine tours and interpretive programs to school groups and visitors. Customer service duties: admissions, gift shop, visitor surveys, data entry.

  • Program design, development, evaluation, exhibit care, and special projects.

  • Each interpreter will be given an opportunity to take a project from start to finish, thus providing valuable experience for a future resume.

Candidates:

  • Dynamic individuals who are enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated, and outgoing.  Team work is essential.  We are only as strong as the presentation we are able to achieve. We promote a cohesive work environment at all times.

  • Interested in coal mining history, education, or theatre.
    Proficient in oral and written communication.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
    Previous experience working with the public and in the areas of tourism, interpretation, education, earth and life sciences is an advantage; however, all applicants are welcome.

  • Students continuing educational pursuits in the fall.

  • Must be comfortable giving an "underground" tour to a maximum of 30 visitors.  This is truly a life-changing experience for every successful candidate.  Our opportunity creates the capability to speak in public while gaining personal self-esteem, confidence, and positive respect through support from fellow co-workers and management - exposing qualities you may not have had a chance to comprehend.

Training in Crowsnest Pass heritage, historical and technological interpretation will be provided.

Successful applicants will be required to submit a

standard first aid certificate.

Employment period: April 28 - September 1, 2008

Job Location: Bellevue, Alberta.

Salary: $10.00 - $10.50/hour commensurate with experience (30-37.5 hours/week)
