Crowsnest

Crowsnest straddles the Alberta / British Columbia boundary. Founded with the building of the CPR it became a divisional point for the railway in 1898 and a close knit community of CPR workers. The first Summit Hotel built on the Continental Divide and owned by Kate and Andy Good in the early 1900s was noted for its excellent cuisine. Andy commented that the rain falling on the roof of his hotel wound up in two oceans. A colourful and rugged character, Andy, had a nearby picturesque peaked named after him. Today Crowsnest is home to the Inn on the Border on the site of the second Summit Hotel rebuild after a fire in 1921.
